Dad thought he was in charge of ordering the cat biscuits. I thought I was in charge of ordering the cat biscuits. Now the cats have 50kg on cat biscuits on the way.

Anonymous: "Hello, I have some questions and I would like to know if you mind aswering them. Well, Im currently a business undergrad and after I graduate, I would like to study architecture and maybe design. Should I start over another degree in architecture and design or is a crash course in one and a half enough? My aim is ultimately to work in sustainable architecture, bio-mimicry, earthships and all of that in the 3rd world. Do you know what are currently the opportunities on the job market? Thanks."

Sorry about the delay at replying, I’m not really sure of the best guidance… It sounds really interesting what you want to do though!

If you ultimately want to be an architect, you have to do the full length, which in the UK works out at about 7 years.  You probably wouldn’t need to do a separate design course, you will learn what you need in architecture school and through your choice of placements.

There are also loads and loads of opportunities for architecture students to do charity work,  usually hands on building, in third world countries.

As for current opportunities in the job market? Well for all architecture students I know it’s pretty tough, you kinda need to be in the right place at the right time.

Anyone else any help?
